Ad exec: Google takes Super Bowl commercial first prize

Rachel Kerestes, director of Brand Strategy at MiresBall, a local brand agency, said her pick for best Super Bowl ad was the Google commercial, whose ad was simple and powerful.

“The spot made an emotional connection with the audience, reminding us both how Google has become part of our everyday lives and that the brand stands for quick and accurate searches,” she said.

A couple of other good spots were Denny's and Hyundai, according to Kerestes. The Denny's ads were fun and memorable, but most of all they clearly conveyed the company's product message of offering free breakfasts to everyone. Hyundai's spot, while not necessarily generating that “water cooler buzz,” did a great job re-positioning the company as a quality brand, Kerestes said.
