MiresBall named Merit Winner in HOW International Design Awards

Brand agency’s logo design for Bird’s Surf Shed one of 200+ award-winning designs.

MiresBall was named a winner in the 2012 HOW International Design Awards for its logo design for Bird’s Surf Shed. The competition recognizes outstanding creative work produced by individuals and creative agencies from around the world.

A team of design-industry veterans judged nearly 1,000 entries in 15 categories, and selected 220 winning projects that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. International Design Awards is a global creative competition; each year, winners represent countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.

To help local surf legend Bird Huffman launch his new surf shop, MiresBall developed a vintage-inspired identity that recalls the beginnings of the Southern California surf scene.

“It’s gratifying to be recognized on such a large scale for a project that combined my personal and professional passions,” explained Creative Director Scott Mires, a longtime surfer. “We enjoyed the creative freedom we had collaborating with Bird, and we are very proud of the end result.”

In addition to MiresBall, other winners included Target Corporation, Leo Burnett and Methodologie. All winning projects will be featured in the March 2012 issue of HOW magazine.
