SAN DIEGO – St. Vincent de Paul Village experienced its annual holiday makeover this past weekend when more than two dozen MiresBall employees and their families gather at the community organization’s Imperial Avenue campus, a one-stop center for San Diegans living in poverty. Father Joe Carroll, president emeritus and Program Director, Laura Kojima of St. Vincent de Paul Village were on-site to partake in the festivities.
San Diego-based brand firm MiresBall has combined its expertise in creative design with its passion for community service in decorating the St. Vincent de Paul Village dining room for the past 17 years.
“Our company culture highly values family time, so we thought it was perfectly fitting to give back to families in need,” says Scott Mires, partner and creative director at MiresBall.
Additionally, MiresBall has been donating over a ton of holiday turkeys at various shelters and homes across San Diego including St. Vincent de Paul, San Diego Rescue Mission, San Diego Hospice, Fraternity House, Center for Community Solutions, YMCA Oz San Diego, Border View YMCA, Christie’s House, Areta Crowell Center, Western Services Workers Association and the Episcopal Community Services.
In operation for more than 60 years, St. Vincent de Paul Village provides a clean, safe and stable living environment for individuals and families struggling with homelessness. The non-profit serves approximately 13,000 people a year and provides housing, healthcare, job training and education services, among others. It also serves more than 1 million well-balanced, nutritious meals per year.
About Father Joe’s Villages/St. Vincent de Paul Village
As Southern California’s largest residential homeless services provider, Father Joe’s Villages and partner agency St. Vincent de Paul Village have been empowering people to achieve self-sufficiency for over 62 years. What started as a small chapel serving San Diego’s impoverished has grown into a cutting-edge provider of innovative housing programs and services. Father Joe’s Villages and St. Vincent de Paul Village prepare up to 4,000 meals and provide a continuum of care to nearly 1,500 individuals every day—from infants and adolescents to adults and seniors. This includes over 200 children and over 200 military veterans. As industry thought-leaders, the two agencies offer innovative solutions to address the complex needs of the homeless, regardless of age, race, culture or beliefs. The organizations’ primary goal is to transform lives and end the cycle of homelessness. To this end they provide housing, healthcare, food, clothing, education, job training and child development in an internationally modeled “one-stop-shop” approach. The organizations’ mission is made possible only through the efforts of compassionate staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous public and private donors.
